Julie Hulet Memorial Fund
Ben Hulet wanted to honor his wife.
Ben Hulet lost his wife Julie suddenly of heart failure on July 5, 2008. Julie Hulet – Joules – to friends and family – was a well-loved Sonora Elementary School teacher and master swimmer. “Julie lived life to the fullest – she was such an inspiration and everyone who knew her felt that.” Upon Julie’s death, Ben and his two sons, Brett and Grant, were determined to find a way to honor her life and her enduring influence on kids and community.
Working with the Sonora Area Foundation, Ben Hulet established the Julie Hulet Memorial Fund which he hopes to build into The Joules Foundation, as a natural way to channel the outpouring of love and support from Julie’s friends and co-workers. The Fund supports Sonora Elementary School education and technology initiatives in addition to SmileKeepers, a school-based dental disease prevention program that provides preventative dental care services to more than 3,500 children in Tuolumne County.
“My wife was an outstanding example of having a big heart and giving back to our youth. Her motto was ‘caring is believing.’ The Foundation is helping my sons and me carry on Julie’s spirit to fulfill our commitment to never quit celebrating life.”
